DECONSTRUCTED DENIM PROJECT

Here to There

Here to There 12-Unit Denim Textile Collage
(Click for larger image) Here to There. Deconstructed denim jeans and denim insulation wrapped on cradled board. 12 (8" square) modules, approx. 31" x 40" combined.

Here to There Detail: Individual Modules

Created solely from deconstructed, recycled denim jeans and denim insulation, the Here to There series offered an upbeat sense of play in imaginary spaces. Each module’s creation was inspired by the variety of texture and color inherent in the clothing from which it emerged, inviting viewers to both recognize its parts and contemplate the whole. Modules could be arranged multiple ways on installation, to create different paths of movement and balance within the whole.

Denim is a universal material that can be found in almost every culture. The designs and patterns I’ve used have familiar forms that tap into that universality in a way that engages the eye and memories of the viewer.

Here to There was lost in a 2020 house and home-studio fire. I just still find the images really interesting to look at!
