DECONSTRUCTED DENIM PROJECT
Here to There
Here to There Detail: Individual Modules
Created solely from deconstructed, recycled denim jeans and denim insulation, the Here to There series offers an upbeat sense of play in imaginary spaces. Each module’s creation is inspired by the variety of texture and color inherent in the clothing from which it emerges, inviting viewers to both recognize its parts and contemplate the whole. Modules can be arranged multiple ways on installation, to create different paths of movement and balance within the whole.
The collage Durable Goods creates a similar sense of rhythm, motion, and curiosity out of old friends. It, too, is constructed solely of recycled and deconstructed denim jeans, along with denim insulation.
Denim is a universal material that can be found in almost every culture. The designs and patterns I’ve used have familiar forms that tap into that universality in a way that engages the eye and memories of the viewer.
