Visually, I’ve always been drawn to the horizontal lines of land, water, horizon, sky. The majority of my new abstract work with acrylic and assorted other media continues to evolve from landscape and the exploration of the horizon.
What emerges above that line? What lies beneath the surface of land, both literally and figuratively? How are we supported? The ground beneath our feet, the people who came before us, our principles — what holds us up?
My approach is intuitive, using texture, color and marks to explore our sense of solidity. In addition, I strive to ensure the art I make is uplifting, creating room for joy in the midst of a noisy world.
