ARE THE TEXTILE COLLAGES QUILTING?
Surprisingly, no. Despite the fact that my primary medium is fabric, this is collage on a firm substrate, using archival glue, much like a cut paper collage. Some works may be assembled with any combination of metal elements, fibers, acrylic medium and acrylic paint. There is no stitching involved.
HOW DO I PURCHASE YOUR ART?
To ask questions, see a detail of a piece, or if you're ready to purchase a work of art, please contact me directly via e-mail or at 978-897-1684. Contacting me obligates you to nothing other than a hello from the artist! I'm most happy to answer any questions and look forward to hearing from you. Work that is currently with a gallery may be purchased directly from the gallery, or I can facilitate the sale. Pricing remains the same, wherever you may purchase my art.
WHAT DOES THE PRICE INCLUDE?
All prices shown are for unframed art unless otherwise indicated.
Acrylic and mixed-media paintings on canvas panels are framed in black wood "floater" frames, without glazing. They have two coats of polymer medium to protect the works. This does not include UV protection, so paintings should be displayed as any other mixed-media work — away from direct sun or excess humidity. Alternatively you can frame them behind UV glass or plexi.
Paintings on wrapped canvas and cradled wood panels are treated similarly, and do no require framing, but you may frame them if you choose.
Most commonly, textile collages are framed in high quality wood frames with standard stains that suit the piece (i.e. stains in cherry, walnut, oak, etc.) and UV glass or plexi. Collages are either matted or floated against a mat within the framing. The cost of this framing is included in the price.
Collage works on cradled boards don't require framing. They are easily maintained with a feather duster or even a gentle touch with a lint roller.
DO YOU TAKE COMMISSIONS?
Yes! I work regularly with art consultants who commission work for the healthcare industry. But I also take private commissions. In the past I've created wall art for living rooms and wedding gifts.
HOW DO PRIVATE COMMISSIONS WORK?
Any commission is very much a give and take process. Usually a client will look at other work I've done and tell me what pieces they are most attracted to. Most of my work evolves intuitively, so we may discuss a general theme, size and color ranges, as well as delivery date expectations. After I have an idea what you're looking for, I can come up with an estimate. Once the estimate is agreed upon, I require a 50% deposit up front, with the balance to be paid upon delivery.
While commissions are not returnable, on textile collages it is possible for me to show images of the original layout before adhering, to ensure your general comfort with the direction of the piece.
HOW IS THE ART SHIPPED?
Carefully! I wrap the art so it is fully padded before bringing it to a commercial shipper, where they pad and protect it even more. Pricing depends on the size of the piece, the cost to ship to you from Maynard, MA, and the cost to insure it.
